the common grass snake is a nonvenomous colubroid that lives near ponds, lakes, canals, and ditches. it is usually 0.6 to 1 meters long, (2 to 3.3 feet) although they can grow to be up to 2 meters long. they are great swimmers, and they live in Europe and west Asia. it has keeled scales and a triangular head. they are oviparous, and lay 8 to 40 eggs.
